Online Project Management Certificate Program

University of Alabama in HuntsvilleOur most popular classroom-based training courses are also available in an online format! Online delivery is in partnership with The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

A Project Management Certificate is awarded after the successful completion of these four core courses, meeting a minimum of 8.4 CEUs:

Project Management Essentials

Covering the basic concepts of the five fundamental project management processes, defining requirements, schedules, risk management, and change control. Participants gain an understanding of how the project management processes are used during each phase of a project to build a better, more effective project plan.

Project Cost & Schedule Management

The triple constraints of scope, time, and cost; and planning to control these constraints, are the focus of this intensive course. Using complex case studies, hands-on exercises and problem analysis, key elements of the project plan are emphasized – the project WBS, project cost estimates and budgets, project schedules, and resource assignment tools. Techniques to set plan expectations with key stakeholders, kick off the execution work, monitor and track project performance (using Earned Value Management practices), and close out the project are included.

Project Risk Management

Risk management is increasingly more visible as an integrated component of an effective plan. Learn to identify, analyze, prioritize and mitigate project risks, and explore risk response control. Practice risk management techniques by applying them to problems raised in a sophisticated case study. Use exercises, case studies and discussion to gain practical knowledge that can be applied to current projects.

Contracting & Negotiation Skills

Few projects are initiated without some form of contractual authorization, and project managers must be fully aware of how the customer’s contract will influence their decision making. Covering the foundations of sound contract management principles from the project manager’s perspective, the course focuses on establishing a high level of awareness in the area of contract development, administration and closeout. Exercises and simulations are used to explore the concepts of contract legality, contents and contract negotiations.
