Training 2020: Connecting the Dots

It has been several years since we did a research study that was specifically about project management training. That's not because we aren't interested! Instead, our studies seek to reproduce the reality on the ground. Here's the situation:

When our consultants go out into the field to work with clients, whether the presenting problem is a failing program, a struggling PMO, a new product launch, or "other" ... it's rare that they don't uncover an unexpressed need for more training and mentoring. Training supports pretty much any organizational intitiative that involves improvement, change, or crisis response. In fact, it can be the secret sauce in initiatives that flourish.

Likewise, when we go into an organization to provide training, it's not unusual to discover organizational issues that hinder skilled project managers from delivering their best. Things like a poor strategy execution infrastructure, a lack of career paths and rewards to keep project managers engaged, a weak methodology ... organizational issues that prevent training investment from being capitalized upon.

So our new research, The State of Project Management 2020,  asks many questions about training and development activities, but in the organizational context. Participants who receive the full-data report as a thank-you can not only identify trends in training (how many days per year? What types of courses?) but drill down into the data to discover answers to questions like:

  • How does my industry compare to others when it comes to non-training development activities?
  • What do high-performing organizations train most in, as compared to low performers?
  • What difference does a mature PMO make in terms of the training and development activities undertaken?

Participate in the study today to receive access to this wealth of data! The study closes on January 31. Here's the link again: https://projectmanagement2020.questionpro.com/
