Training and the New PMO: New Research Study

Posted by Jeannette Cabanis-Brewin

Jeannette Cabanis-Brewin is editor-in-chief for PM Solutions Research, and the author, co-author and editor of over twenty books on project management, including the 2007 PMI Literature Award winner, The AMA Handbook of Project Management, Second Edition.

A lot has changed since we last ran a State of the PMO study in 2016, and our newest research survey--now open for participation here, through Feb. 4--is designed to reflect those changes.

One of the trends we had seen over the decade that we did a biennial PMO study, from 2006 through 2016, was the migration of functions related to recruiting, training, and rewarding project managers from HR to the PMO. We'll be checking in on that trend again in this 2022 study. Please share your experiences with us as a participant in the survey! As a reminder, those who complete the questionnaire are rewarded with a full-data copy of the study (not publicly available) as well as an opportunity to be interviewed for additional qualitative research on training topics.

Thanks ... and a belated Happy New Year!
