Our most recent research study will be released in May.

The State of Project Management 2020 focuses on the challenges that we need to address now, so that we can meet the demands of our time and thrive in the future. Some of the main points in terms of training and development:

  • High performing companies outshine the average in a wide array of human resource and professional development areas. They are more likely to
    • Perform project manager performance evaluations
    • Perform project management training coordination
    • Manage project managers within a PMO
    • Provide project management training of all types, but especially agile training.
  • Team members in high performing organizations
    • Are more experienced in using project management approaches
    • Are more collaborative
    • Embrace a growth mindset (confident about learning new skills)
    • Communicate well.

The chicken-and-egg question in research is always, what came first? Do organizations perform better simple because they have a higher caliber of team members? Or is the organization setting up project managers and teams for success by providing the right tools, structures, training and support? I believe it is the latter. Investing in people yields tangible rewards, especially during challenging times.
